Five Reasons Why You Need to Workout at Home
Workout at home? No way! That’s what most people think when they hear that you can get your workouts done without having to leave the house. But actually, there are tons of advantages of working out from home, from the amount of time it takes to travel to and from the gym, to privacy and safety concerns at public gyms, to just simply being able to workout whenever you want instead of trying to find time in your schedule to fit in an appointment. Let’s take a look at five reasons why you need to workout at home!
Save Time
The average gym trip takes anywhere from 40 minutes (this includes driving, parking, finding a locker, etc.) to an hour or more. The time commitment alone is enough of a deterrent for many women. Add in crowded classes and super-intense personal trainers barking workout orders and it's easy to see why many women might prefer working out from home. More than that, though, working out from home gives you more control over your schedule and routine—and often leaves you with more energy for other things once your workout is complete. Women’s Health asked 1,000 women if they would rather work out in a studio, outside or from home. Nearly half said they would rather work out at home (48 percent). This was followed by working out outside (33 percent) and studios/gyms (19 percent). These results aren't all that surprising when you consider how much time people spend commuting to work every day—taking time away from them on top of everything else they have going on can seem like one thing too many. Working out at home doesn't have to take up your entire day; there are great workouts you can do in just 30 minutes . Women tend to feel more comfortable when working out from home—being comfortable helps us push ourselves harder!
Save Money
Working out at home can save you money in a few different ways. First, you don’t have to pay for childcare. If you work out after work or on weekends, chances are your kids are with their grandparents or other family members who may expect payment. Second, working out in your home will save on gas and wear and tear on your car. The less you drive, not only do you save money but also help limit unnecessary pollution! And finally, every piece of equipment in your home gym is something that allows you to get a good workout without driving across town and paying an expensive membership fee. Overall, it might be a little more challenging since you won’t have others around pushing you; however, having all the tools available to get fit at home is ideal because it saves time and money. It’s simple—working out at home saves time and money!
Save Energy
If you’re working out at home, you can save energy and money by not driving back and forth to a gym. Additionally, gyms are often filled with cliques of women talking about girls’ night out or throwing back beers while lounging on stationary bikes. At home, there is no judgment and it is easier to get your workout done in a motivating environment. The only way it could be more motivating is if your workout partner was also there. But that seems like more work than fun... right? Not really. Because if you do have someone over to train with, they'll end up giving you motivation as well as some healthy competition - and who doesn't love being pushed just a little bit harder? Sweat: If someone is watching you, even if they're doing their own thing nearby (reading, for example), then naturally you're going to try harder because hey, why let them win? Now add in some friendly trash talk (you know how guys do) and it adds up to even more motivation - which means better results for YOU! It's Personal: Working out around others gives people an opportunity to compare themselves against someone else - but at home nobody knows your dirty little secrets except yourself!
Have Fun
It’s important to stay motivated when working out. Once that motivation starts to wane, so do your workouts. That’s why it’s important not to take yourself too seriously when working out—it can help keep things fun, especially if you exercise with friends or family members. And remember, you don’t have to be a gym rat! Working out from home is a great way for women of all fitness levels and ages (and fitness goals) to get fit. Not only can it be more convenient than going to a gym, but it also gives you more control over your workout regimen. At home you can choose between an indoor cycling class or outdoor run around your neighborhood—or even just hitting some playlists on YouTube! The best part? These exercises are effective because they work multiple muscle groups simultaneously, which saves time in your day. Want to know what's even better? These muscle-building moves aren't as complicated as you might think. Anyone who does these 10 moves will build lean muscle and burn fat in no time. Here's how each move works: Start by doing one set of 12 repetitions two times per week on nonconsecutive days; gradually increase sets and repetitions over two weeks until you're performing three sets of 20 reps per session four days per week. Increase intensity by adding weights; once you can complete all three sets without dropping below 12 reps, add weight with small dumbbells or resistance bands under your feet until you max out at 20 reps again.
Find Motivation
There’s nothing quite like a great workout mix or an upbeat workout partner to motivate you. But what if you don’t have those things? Try these tips instead: Before you go, jot down three reasons why it’s important for you to get your workout in. Stick them up on your fridge as a reminder before your workout session. Jot down a list of fitness goals and post it on your wall where you can see it as well. Looking at that visual reminder of what working out does for your body will help keep you motivated during tough times.
